Splinters #240 – New arrivals tasting + hot red Burgundy offer!!!

Good afternoon

It’s going to be as concise as possible this afternoon…. a new year but time still gets away just as quickly!

Tonight we’ll crack a few standout new arrivals that have landed in the last 3 or 4 weeks. Rise Watervale Riesling 2009, trophy winning Airlie Bank Shiraz Viognier 2008, Pierre Amadieu Cotes du Rhone 2007and Nick O’Leary Shiraz 2008. Reckon any one of these gems would sit proudly on pretty much any dinner table this weekend!!! Tonight, from 5pm, in store, free!

Alberto Antonini in store in 2 weeks!

Global winemaking guru Alberto Antonini will be in store in a fortnight, talking us through some of his many international wine projects and answering any questions that you may have. The Heathcote sourced Greenstone wines will be to the fore, as will the Tuscan Poggiotondo range. Lock it in the diary – Friday Feb19, 5.30-7pm.

Frederic Magnien Red Burgundy Offer – save more than 30%

Frederic Magnien is a 5th generation Burgundian winemaker with access to an outstanding collection of vineyards throughout the Cote d’Or. He is a negociant, but his extended family involvement in the local scene ensures that he has access to some prized parcels of fruit within premier and grand cru sites. As a young individual winemaker, he is considered a bit of a dynamo, having learnt his craft from his highly esteemed father, Michel, and possessing the work ethic of a perfectionist. Strong, respectful relationships with his growers, meticulous vineyard management (multiple passings, green harvesting, individual fruit selection etc etc) as well as further sorting in the cellar ensures that the quality of the material going to barrel is first rate. His style is to treat each parcel very similarly so as to ensure fine vineyard expression. Not smacked about with new oak, rather, lovely purity of fruit and finesse. Red Burgundies that are approachable in their youth courtesy of their balance, and yet with the attributes in structure to age gracefully.
This selection of wines below is very limited in quantities.
There are no minimum orders required, but as with the white Burgundies earlier in the week, first in best dressed!!
